There’s just something about spring that makes us want to throw open the windows, roll up our sleeves, and hit reset on our homes. Whether you’re itching to do a full-on purge or just want to knock out a few overdue chores, now’s the perfect time to give your space the attention it deserves.
To help you get going, I’ve included my Spring Home Maintenance Checklist in this post—look for the flyer below for a step-by-step seasonal guide!
1. Choose Smarter Cleaning Products
Before you start scrubbing, take stock of what you’re using. More homeowners are switching to eco-friendly, non-toxic cleaners—not only are they safer for your home and family, but they’re also incredibly effective. A little research goes a long way in building your go-to cleaning arsenal.
2. Break It Down Into Bite-Size Chunks
Spring cleaning doesn’t have to mean dedicating your entire weekend to the cause. Create a checklist (or use mine!) and break tasks into 30-minute sessions. Try starting with areas that collect the most dust—think ceiling fans, baseboards, windowsills, and crown molding. Once that’s done, you’ll already feel a noticeable difference.
3. Let the Linens Breathe
Give your sheets, curtains, and cushion covers a well-deserved wash. Treat any stains before they hit the washing machine and add a few drops of essential oils for a fresh scent. If the weather’s nice, line-dry them outdoors—your laundry (and energy bill) will thank you.
4. Give the Bathroom a Deep Scrub
This high-traffic area can be a magnet for grime. Scrub the grout, disinfect the shower head, and clean out those sink and tub corners. Mold and bacteria love to hide where you least expect them—so don’t hold back with the antibacterial spray.
5. Don’t Forget Windows & Floors
Clean floors and sparkling windows are a spring essential. Rent a carpet cleaner or bring in a pro to revive those rugs and carpets. When it comes to windows, a streak-free cleaner and a microfiber cloth are your best friends. While you’re at it, give your blinds some attention too—they trap more dust than you realize.
As a bonus, open up your doors and windows when you’re done to let that crisp spring air flow through your freshened-up home.
